May is National Mobility Awareness Month, a nationwide awareness campaign led by the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association to help bring attention to accessibility, mobility, and independence.

At FR Conversions, this month is an important reminder that mobility is bigger than vehicles. It is about people, daily routines, family life, caregiving, work, healthcare, and the confidence that comes from having transportation that supports real-world needs.

For individuals, families, caregivers, seniors, veterans, and transportation providers, the right mobility solution can make a meaningful difference in safety, comfort, reliability, and independence.

Mobility Is Not One-Size-Fits-All

Every mobility need is different.

Some people may need a wheelchair-accessible minivan for family transportation. Others may need a full-size mobility van for commercial passenger use, healthcare transportation, senior living, or community-based services. For some, the priority is ease of entry. For others, it may be interior space, securement options, seating flexibility, lift access, or long-term durability.

That is why awareness and education matter.

Choosing an accessible vehicle is not simply about finding a vehicle with a ramp or lift. It is about understanding how the vehicle will be used, who it needs to support, and what features will make daily transportation safer and easier.

Why Awareness Matters

According to NMEDA’s National Mobility Awareness Month fact sheet, millions of people across the United States and Canada live with mobility challenges. The fact sheet also notes that transportation access can directly affect employment, healthcare, social connection, and quality of life.

That is why National Mobility Awareness Month is so important. Many people who could benefit from adaptive mobility solutions may not know what options are available or where to start.

Awareness helps open the door to better conversations, better education, and better connections between individuals, families, caregivers, dealers, manufacturers, and transportation providers.

Finding the Right Fit

NMEDA’s 2026 theme, “Find Your Fit,” is a strong reminder that the right solution should match the person, the use case, and the day-to-day need.

For some, that fit may mean a rear-entry minivan that supports family transportation and caregiver access. For others, it may mean a commercial mobility van designed to help organizations transport multiple passengers safely and efficiently.

The right fit can support greater independence, reduce transportation barriers, and create more confidence for those who rely on accessible mobility every day.

FR Conversions’ Role in Accessible Mobility

FR Conversions is proud to support the accessible mobility space by building vehicles focused on quality, safety, and practical day-to-day use.

We also recognize the important role qualified dealers play in helping individuals and organizations understand their options and identify the mobility solution that best fits their needs.

Our goal is to build vehicles that serve people well in the real world, whether that means supporting a family, a caregiver, a transportation provider, or a community organization.

Continuing the Conversation

National Mobility Awareness Month is a time to listen, learn, share resources, and continue raising awareness around mobility and access.

It is also a reminder that the right transportation solution can change more than how someone gets from one place to another. It can support independence, connection, safety, and confidence in everyday life.
